I’m reviewing my photos from the past five years, and this one is still so close to my heart. I have known this client for many years, and she’s beautiful inside and out. The reason I love it so much is because it taught me an important lesson.

During her portrait reveal session, I overheard my client whisper to herself, “I am beautiful” (with emphasis on the “am”). I was stunned to learn that she didn’t think of herself as “beautiful”. I just assumed that she already knew that.

I’m so grateful for that lesson. It shapes how I work on every photoshoot. I’m mindful that we all have some type of block about ourselves, and I want to help women see beyond whatever is holding them back. I want them to experience that “ah-ha” moment, when they see how special they are–inside and out.
