Every week, women arrive at my studio ready to learn about my photography and to see everything I offer. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy spending an hour or so getting to know them and hearing their stories about love, grief, celebration, heartache and struggle. I doubt there are many women in their late 40’s and beyond, who haven’t experienced something difficult that shakes them to their core. I have, more than once, and I’m inspired by these kindred spirits who refuse to buckle under the pain.

These women face the struggle in their own time, in their own way, and they put one foot in front of the other. A common thread among them is their desire to reinvent themselves. They’re heading in to the next stage in their lives and dream about pursuing their dreams. Then they go for it.

A lot of them come to see me because they’re starting over and looking for someone to share the rest of their lives with. They need a really great profile picture for online dating websites. Personal branding is HUGE in our digital world.

We’re bombarded with images that want to compete for attention, and a sure-fire way to NOT get attention is to blend in perfectly with all the other poorly lit, awkwardly posed selfies. If I ever figure out how to gently break it to people on Linkedin that their profile pictures SUUUUUUUCK, I’ll be a zillionaire.

It’s definitely not the time to post some crazy, way over-the-top version of yourself. You don’t want to be “that” person. But you do,  want to look friendly, appealing and AWESOME! Whether you use me, or another professional photographer that you love, please do it. You will not regret professional photos, and you’ll stand out…way out….from crowd. Who knows…you might need to frame your profile pictures and hang them on a wall together, so you can remember and celebrate the way you first met. Invite me to the wedding. I love weddings. I cry!!!!!
