A STUDY IN JOY
This is my friend, Joy. She’s a brilliant RN who works with cancer patients. She’s an avid reader, an amazing “groaning cake” baker (you’ll have to read “The Birth House”), a fellow book club buddy, and a lovely soul.
She’s wanted to get portraits done with her teenagers since I opened my studio, and we finally booked the shoot. Little did she know that I’d make her pose for a “before” shot. We were in stitches laughing when I told her to look “completely depressed and dejected”. I wanted an over-the-top-cheesy-obviously-fake-worse-than-real-life mugshot, exactly like every driver’s license and passport photo ever taken of me. She could barely contain herself.
